  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (adjust to heat preference)
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef with cornstarch, soy sauce, and vinegar for 10 minutes.
  2. Combine ketchup, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, and cornstarch mixed with water in a bowl to make the sauce.
  3. Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat; cook marinated beef until browned (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from the pan.
  4. Stir-fry sliced bell peppers, onion, and garlic in the same wok for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Return beef to the wok; add the sauce and stir well. Cook for another minute until heated through.
  6. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
