  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour. Stir until combined, then gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead and rise: Knead until smooth, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Shape the breadsticks: Punch down dough and divide into 16 pieces. Roll each into a rope and shape into bones.
  5. Second rise: Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 12–14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Finish: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese before serving.
