- 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the ground beef, minced garlic, and chopped onion. Cook for about 10 minutes until the beef is browned; drain excess liquid.
- Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for one hour while stirring occasionally.
- After an hour of simmering, add the rinsed pinto beans and salt. Stir well and cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving hot.
