- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg white
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted cooled and divided)
- ½ cup packed dark or light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 oz full-fat cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1½ cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1–1½ tablespoons whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8 baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix light brown sugar, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg for the filling; set aside.
- Warm milk to 105°F – 115°F and activate the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar for about 10 minutes until foamy.
- Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl, then mix wet ingredients in a stand mixer until smooth before combining with dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough until sticky yet holds its shape and roll out into a rectangle.
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough, roll tightly into a log, and cut into pieces.
- Place rolls in the prepared pan, let rise for 1.5 hours, then bake for 40–45 minutes.
- Prepare cream cheese glaze while rolls bake and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
